On Wednesday the 17th, the boys travelled to the 8-9 Cougars of Haddam-Killingworth, always a dicey place. Coginchaug kept the game close for the first half, trailing by a 13-16 count after one period, and by only a 29-30 score at the half.

They even battled on to take a lead with a Kyle Judson bucket with three minutes remaining in the third period, but over the rest of that period, and for the first minute of the final period, they could not find the net. Two Coginchaug misses, two turnovers and the start of the final period, with the arrow pointing to H-K, along with perfect shooting for H-K in the stretch led to a 13-0 run for the Cougars.

The Devils would never recover from that run (the score was 42-52 entering the final period), as after that spell, the deficit never fell to less than nine. In the final two minutes of the game, H-K hit seven of twelve from the charity stripe, and that was more than enough to preserve the 77-64 victory for the Cougars.

Cam Powers led the Devils with 16 points, also led in assists with six and added five rebounds. Griffin Murphy scored 13 points, and was the leading rebounder with seven. He also had a block, a steal and an assist. Kyle Wyskiel scored ten points, adding three rebounds, two steals and an assist. Jacob Sapia scored seven points, led the team in steals with three, and added four rebounds and two assists. Hunter Jameson scored six, adding three rebounds and two assists. Jack Murphy scored four points, adding three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Judson scored eight points and grabbed a rebound.
