On Friday, January 29th, the Devils travelled to Portland to take on the 1-9 Highlanders. Given Portland’s record, you might have expected a somewhat lopsided game, but the highlanders hung tough, earning a 9-9 tie after one period, and trailing by only four (23-19) at the half, and five (42-37) after three periods.

But led by five points from Griffin Murphy, the Devils opened the fourth period with a 10-0 run, and the Highlanders did not get within single digits of the lead the rest of the way, Coginchaug coming away with a 62-50 win.

Although Powers did not lead Coginchaug in scoring (he did get eight), he led in both rebounds with ten and assists with five. Cam also had three steals. Wyskiel led the team in scoring with 18, adding six rebounds and a block. Jameson scored 12 points and pulled down five rebounds. Jack Murphy scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked a shot. Griffin Murphy scored eight points, pulled in four rebounds and had three steals. Sapia had four rebounds, three steals, and scored two points. Kyle Judson scored five and added two rebounds and an assist.
